Trivarna Arts Center, Manipal has organized arts training and exhibition for students along the themes of Village Life. Exhibition was held on March 9th to 11th 2019 at Geetha Madnir, Manipal. Highlight of the exhibition was that the Paintings and artwork were displayed in a village life environment. In Geetha Mandir, huts with paddy grass(dried hay) ceiling supported by bamboo poles and decorated by mango leaves arcs, lanterns, vegetables and various village life objects was the setup for exhibiting the paintings.
Beautiful and lively village arts were displayed in such village huts and were illuminated by spot lights. This village life setup and related arts in fact took back art lovers to village life environment and people felt as if they were seeing this exhibition in a village.
PRISHA SEVA TRUST sponsored these village life huts to help the current generation and citizens of Manipal and Udupi to get exposure and feel of village life. Artists have put their hands together to bring in the beauty and culture of villages, daily routine, childhood memories, farming, cooking and lifestyle.
Twenty four senior batch artists from Kundapur and Manipal, from age group 19 to 75 years spent over 2 weeks to develop various arts related to village life. Artwork from artists of various types included in this exhibition was Acrylic Painting on canvas and Charcoal paintings. Paintings included Akki Mudi(storage madeup of rice straw and hay), Kanaja(paddy storage structure), Abhyanga(grandma giving oil bath to a baby), Bhoota kola worship, Study under Chimini Deepa(lantern), ancient games like lagori, buguri, bandi(roll), Channamane (Alagulimane) and many more. Over thousand public people visited the exhibition venue each day and applauded the idea, effort and imagination of artists.
